Sometimes, as weird as it feels, you just have to toot your own horn. So, here goes – we got a very nice little mention in the Wall Street Journal in an article about exploring the Middlebury, VT area – and here is the link http://tiny.cc/jtVOZ

Vegetable gardening is a challenge, so I have been told, and I’ve taken it on for the first time this year. And then it rained, and rained, and rained some more here in Vermont. It’s very green this summer, but maybe not the most ideal for the novice gardener. No matter, my exciting news is that last night I harvested exactly enough green beans, that I grew from seeds, to give two guests green beans with their steaks. I was so proud!
Golden Russet Farm just called and raspberries are coming in tomorrow’s food delivery. Hmmm, now what shall I make? Unrelated to raspberries, a neighbor came by last night with the most enormous kale I have ever seen and snow peas that taste like candy. I’ve made my first attempt at gardening this year, and looking at their produce, I am obviously doing something very wrong. Casue they live across the street, i.e. with the same climate and soil that I have…..Oh well, it is something to aspire to.
I’ll take the camera out later this afternoon and post a photo – but, boy are these going to be gorgeous. We are using old timbers from a barn in Salisbury to make a barn here behind the Inn, that will house 3 guests rooms. They are all loft-style and are really coming together. Two of the units will have a loft bedroom and the main floor will be a living room area, with small kitchenettes and the bathroom. The third unit we are constructing to comply with ADA regulations, so the bedroom will be downstairs. There will be an upstairs in that unit, but it won’t have any of the ‘necessary’ elements of the room.
Well, no news photos yet – I haven’t mastered that element of this here blogging enterprise – but I will, and there will be photos someday…for now, I must go find bathroom light fixtures
Well, being green is something we strive for, and have done for some time now, but making ourselves an official Green Hotel is a project we are engaged in currently. We will post updates and information about what this takes and what we’re doing to make this happen. Exciting times!
