There are many things to keep you busy in our part of the state. Feel free to get in touch with us if you have questions, but in the meantime, here are some links to get you started:

You might want to start by checking out the our town website and see what might be going on right here while you visit. Once you are here you can wander across the road to the village green and visit the newly modernized and gorgeous Platt Memorial Library for local historical information, a good book and a chance to chat with some local people. Or maybe you’ll bring your tennis racket and have a good game of tennis on Shoreham’s beautiful tennis courts.

The State of Vermont ‘s official tourism site is loaded with info. There you can do a search based on type of activity you’d like to do or area of the state you’d like to see. It’s great information and very user friendly.

For general information about this area, the most comprehensive place to look is the local Chamber of Commerce: Addison County Chamber of Commerce.

Maybe hiking, mountain biking or bird-watching are your thing? The Green Mountain National Forest is full of trails and beautiful vistas. The Moosalamoo National Recreation Area of about 16,000 acres is not far from the Inn. And, they have a new set of online, interactive maps making it easy to plan your day.

Why not try cycling in the beautiful Champlain Valley – a very popular activity on our rolling green hills.Country Inns Along the Trail will organize this for you. Bredeson Outdoor Adventures can also organize a variety of outdoor activities for you or your group. Great cycling maps and self-guided routes are available from Lake Champlain Bikeways.

Located as we are, in this rolling green countryside of the Valley, there are many opportunities for visiting farms, local cheesemakers and vineyards and see how some of your food begins the travel to your plate. Or, how about the Middlebury Tasting Trail? Five local producers of beer, hard ciders and spirits with tasting rooms attached. Fun days!

We won’t even try to collect all the information on what there is to do in Middlebury, Vergennes, Brandon and all of the other neighboring towns — but here is a small list of the things there are to do right here in Shoreham:

Visit Norton’s Gallery — Norton Latourelle is a woodcarver and has a stunning gallery on Route 73 here in Shoreham.

Take a ride across Lake Champlain on the Fort Ticonderoga Ferry, which makes continuous 7 minute trips across the lake from May through October.

There are orchards galore here in Shoreham. Douglas Orchards is one mile away from the Inn and is open seasonally for strawberry picking, apples and other fruits. Stop down to Champlain Orchards to pick seasonal fruits, sample their own Ice Cider and hard ciders, pick up a pie or a freshly made cider donut and many other goods in their year round Farm Market.



Stop by Vermont Tradewinds to pick up local maple syrup and other maple products, delicious apple pies and all your Christmas decorating needs (season depending)

Visit Fort Ticonderoga in New York State or Mount Independence here in Orwell, Vermont and learn about the fantastic military history in this region.

Another way to learn about the history of the area is to cruise the lake with Carillon Cruises. Daily cruises throughout the summer and fall leave from Larrabees Point here in Shoreham.
